Having been presented with several awards in 1994 and 1995, Karl also had opportunity to serve as Chef for HRH Prince Andrew at a Naval Air Station and see active service.
In 1997 Karl had retired early from military service and had undertaken an appointment in a highly regarded night spot and restaurant in his home town of Cardiff, Wales, UK. Karl became a familiar name amongst the Chef fraternity in Wales and was renowned for his high standard, discipline and motivation.
In 1999 Karl had returned to sea service in the Merchant Navy and during his leave periods he often worked as a relief Chef in some of Wales' most prestigious venues among these The Celtic Manor resort, Cardiff Bay Hotel and the Welsh Government Buildings cooking for discerning guest and members of parliament. Karl was a highly regarded member of the South Wales Guild of Chefs, also an award winner for Whitbread Inns during a temporary contract.
During his Merchant Navy service Karl has held Executive positions on many foreign going vessels of all descriptions but none more famous than the RMS Queen Mary 2, where in her inagrual year Karl held a management position and worked alongside some of the worlds most renowned Chefs, launching the self titled boutique restaurant of Celebrity Chef Todd English and then to become the ships own Celebrity Chef in the Chefs Galley a purpose built cooking auditorium for live and recorded cooking shows.
In 2005 Karl had transferred to the sister company Seabourne where he had managed Chefs cooking the highest standard of culinary fare, the only shipping company at Michelin star standard.
Karl then moved to Western Australia where he started his career gathering media attention as a freelance Chef and Caterer, fondly known as ShowChef and competed at Chef of the Year and achieved a top ten ranking.
After many reviews Karl moved to Melbourne in 2010 which is where he still lives and is often broadcast on local radio and also appears on Channel 31, as a guest Celebrity Chef, also Karl now appears in live performances for Electrolux Australia and AEG Australia and operates the Melbourne extension of Sydney's prestigious Cheeky Food Group as a Head Chef, hosting and performing corporate team building seminars with food demonstrations.
